Watch This Spinner Shark Collide With a PaddleBoarder

//Watch This Spinner Shark Collide With a PaddleBoarder

It was just last month I said Los Angeles was the Capital of Exciting Interactions between shark and paddleboarder. Silly me – that was before today’s brief, yet exciting video making the rounds of a spinner shark colliding with paddle boarder Maximo Trinidad off Jupiter, Florida.

A great white it’s not. But the spinner shark hurling at you mid-air is enough to get your motor revving, I could imagine. The spinner shark is a requiem shark that, like the spinner dolphin, travels in packs and makes spinning leaps as part of its feeding strategy. Trinidad says he’s seen them before while paddle boarding. Only this time he had his GoPro to capture the moment.

Some of the reporting is a little sensational “overcome with sheer terror…” c’mon ABC News, really? Cool video though, and I for one did not know sharks could spin.
