So you think you’re tough? Put up – as in try to complete the Tough Mudder 2012 10-12 mile endurance mile through mud, bush and outdoor misery for bragging rights of finishing what the company calls “probably the toughest event on the planet”.
Tough Mudder is an adventure company that designs obstacle courses under the watchful, if not slightly vindictive supervision of British SAS operatives. The event lasts over 2 days and travels across North America, with 15,000-20,000 participants per event.
This ain’t no cake walk, though, and to that end, roughly 15-20% of so-called tough guys don’t make it across the finish line. And you’ve got to complete the Tough Mudder Pledge before lacing up your combat boots:
I understand that Tough Mudder is not a race but a challenge.
I put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time.
I do not whine – kids whine.
I help my fellow Mudders complete the course.
I overcome all fears.
Male bonding without beer, basically. And Canadians take note – Tough Mudder is coming to Whistler on June 23-24.
